Cabana Pietrele

- Located on the northern side of Retezat   Mountains, just inside the park boundary,   3-4 km south of Carnic. The nearest train   stations: Ohaba -de- sub- Piatra and   Baesti (on the route Petrosani - Simeria).   Fully stocked restaurant and snack bar.   15 cabanas of various sizes ranging from 2-6 beds each. Open during winter.

Tabara Crestina

- Price: 180,000 lei (approx. $ 6) per day - includes breakfast and dinner.   Dormitory rooms and shared bathroom with showers - hot water available.   Groups preferred. Individuals can join groups.
- Located south of Ohaba sub Piatra, past Nucsoara, approaching North Retezat   from Route 66, 100 meters past Carnic, right before trailhead to Pietrele. Closed   in winter.

Cabana Carnic

- Price: 45,000 - 75,000 lei (approx. $ 1.5 -   2.5) per night. Two dormitory rooms and   one private room. Shared bathroom with   shower - no hot water.
- Located on the road through Nucsoara   from Ohaba de sub Piatra, approaching   North Retezat from Route 66, northwest   of Petrosani. Located about 0.5 km from the trailhead to Cabana Pietrele. Open from April - October.

Cabana Baleia
- Located in the northeast side of Retezat Mountains, south of Pui (which is   located on Rte. 66 and rail line between Petrosani and Simeria).

Cabana Buta
- No phone directly to the cabana. Can call the owner's nightly at at
  +4(0254) 511 233 or +4(0254) 511 520 or just show up to get a bed. 4 rooms with
  6 beds each.
- Romanians: 60.000 lei per person/night. Foreigners: $ 3.1 per person/night.   Small restaurant downstairs. Most main menu items can be served. Sells maps   of the Retezat.

Cabana Cheile Butii

Cabana Lunca Florii

- Large commercial cabana with pool, entertainment area, conference room, etc.   Some rooms have private bath. Showers with hot water. Upscale. Currently   being renovated. Should be open at end of August. Will have fully stocked   restaurant and bar.
- Take Strada Republica in Petrila. Head east at Primaria on road that follows   Taia River, go approx. 2 km, pass cliffs, go another 500 meters, turn left at sign   for cabana. Cross river, proceed another 100 meters. (Call first.) [7/01]

Cabana Rusu

- Located at the base Parang Telescaun (Chairlift) on the West side of the   Parangul Mic Mountain. Head south on route 66 (DN 66) in Petrosani, take a left   on Closca Street and continue straight on Zorilor and gen. V. Milea. The cabana   is several kilometers up this road, about 1 km past the chairlift. [7/01]

Cabana Parang

- Ski slopes (for beginners and advanced) with teleski.
- Located on the West side of the Parangul Mic Mountain at 1579 m. Head south   on route 66 (DN 66) in Petrosani, take a left on Closca Street and continue   straight on Zorilor and gen. V. Milea. The telescaun is several kilometers up this   road on the left side of the road and takes you to the cabana. [7/01]

Cabana Ranca

- An important base for tourists entering the Parang Massive through the South.
- 100 beds, in rooms with 2 to 15 beds; electricity and fluent water. Restaurant;   cantina with auto service
- Ski slopes (for beginners and advanced) with teleski.
- Located on the South side of the Papusa Mountins on the highway. altitude:   1600 m. Closest train station: Tg. Jiu (on route Craiova-Petrosani-Simeria) and   Ramnicu Valcea (Piatra Olt- Sibiu). [7/01]

Groapa Seaca

- Located on Route 7A, 18 km up road to   Voineasa from Petrosani. Restaurant,   traditional food. On the road DN7A at 18   km from Petrosani. Situated near several   trail heads into the Parang Mountains.


Valcan Area Cabanas

Cabana Straja
- No phone.
- From the main highway in Lupeni, look for the sign to Straja and follow the road and additional signs until you reach the parking lot. Take the telescaun from the base of the mountain to the resort. Another option is to drive to the resort; but as the road is very rough in places, this should only be considered if you have a four-wheel drive. Again, follow the signs from the main highway. At one point, a sign will direct you to the left to drive to the resort; while another sign points to the right for the telescaun. The telescaun (chairlift) costs 20,000 lei (approx. $0.6). [7/01]

Cabana Valcan

- Located on the Northern side of the Valcan at1419 m. Free transport from   Vulcan to the cabana (only for groups), call ahead
- Guide at request (Rada Viorel) - Ski slope with ski lift
- Road access: from Vulcan (alt. 610 m) at the 7 km marker on route 66-A, turn   south and proceed for 1 km. At the fork in the road take left and go another
  5 km till the cabana, marked trail with red point towards Dambul Lespezi. Road   is rough and requires a 4wd. [7/01]

Cabana Montana

Cabana Caprisoara

- From the main road to Petrosani at 7 km mark in Vulcan head south at the   sign, 1 km till the fork in the road, veer right and continue another 2.5 km till   reaching cabana. [7/01]
